Weekend Fun in Cheshire

Even though it’s only Monday, we can all start thinking about the fun this weekend will bring! Two great events are happening in Cheshire this weekend that will get you involved in our community and give you something to look forward to.

With warm weather comes time for days spent outside enjoying the fruits of the season. You can do just that at the 74th Annual Cheshire Strawberry Festival at the First Congregational Church this Saturday, June 11th. Located on the green in front of the church, you’ll be able to gather with your Cheshire neighbors as you feast on hotdogs and hamburgers and take in the festival atmosphere with kids’ games, clowns, a magic show, pony rides, music and a petting zoo. What strawberry festival would be complete without strawberries? Make sure you indulge in some strawberry shortcake before taking on the rest of your weekend.

Pull an all-nighter on Friday evening at Cheshire’s Relay for Life. Most of us have been touched by Cancer in one way or another, and Relay for Life is a great opportunity to remember loved ones, celebrate victories and fight back against the disease. From 6pm Friday night until noon on Saturday, get together with your Cheshire neighbors, friends and family for a night of celebration and remembrance. Half of the fun is spending the night, so be sure to pack tents and sleeping bags!
As of today, this weekend’s event has 89 teams with nearly $175,000 already raised. If you want to participate or donate, there’s still time to do so. Visit the Relay for Life website to learn more about it and to sign up for a team. Teams must consist of at least 10 people but no more than 20, so get everyone you know to join you for a guaranteed great night out in Cheshire.
