Find Your Inner Artist in Cheshire Connecticut

A new year often means trying your hand at new things. Have you ever considered taking art classes before? Or maybe you are already an artist, but you are looking to hone your skills?

Cheshire, Connecticut has the answer for finding your new hobby for the new year. It's called Cheshire Artsplace located at 1220 Waterbury Road. This creative staple of Cheshire has been around for almost 20 years. They have art classes for all ages and levels, very thorough teaching techniques taught by more than 20 professional artists, and they actually provide the standard supplies for all art classes. Beyond a place for learning, it is also a great environment to make friends and find a home away from your Cheshire home. Here is a quick preview of the classes they offer, from age 4 to age 94, there is no age restriction on art.

Pre-K
This is a fun experience for the brand new artist (ages 4-5) who just wants to have fun (and for parents who want to encourage their kids to develop fine motor skills). Paste, paint, stamp and draw, and just get messy!

K-Beginner Drawing
Teachers start by demonstrating how to draw, explaining the specific terms, and then students follow suit on their own paper. This allows these beginners to start developing skill, while still using their own creativity.

Grades 1-6
There are a variety of classes available once you get to this age level, from Beginner Drawing to Intermediate and Advanced, on to Mixed Media, Sculpture, Watercolor, Cartooning, Polymer Clay and Paper Mache. The hardest part will be choosing where to start.

Teens (Grades 7-12)
This is where the growing child artist can really hone their skills and prepare for the next step of their art career. There is an art/architecture college prep course where one can learn about the prerequisites for these majors and develop a portfolio. There is also Mixed Media Museum Style, Teen Art, and Anime Art available.

Teens and Adults
You are never too old to begin developing your artistic skills. Some of the standout classes available to teens and adults include Acrylics, Art Quilt Techniques, Basic Digital Photography, Oil Painting, Green Sculpture, Pen and Ink Home Portraits, and the ever-popular "I Can't Draw But I Want to Learn" class.
