Connecticut Student Film Festival
Nowadays, we’re all looking for something fun and inexpensive to do on the weekends in Cheshire. As the weather warms up, so do cheap and sometimes free spring and summer festivals all over Cheshire and the surrounding communities. For a fun outing this Friday, May 13th, visit our neighboring town Waterbury for the Connecticut Student Film Festival at the Palace Theatre. Students from 30 different middle schools and high schools all over the state of Connecticut have submitted innovative films for review by a panel of judges. After a critique by industry professionals and college faculty, students will receive awards for different categories including Public Service Announcement, News Report, Animated Short, Middle School Short, Historical Short, Documentary Short and Fictional Short.
The Connecticut Student Film Festival is free to the public and allows attendees to dine on site with Frankie’s of Waterbury providing the festival’s food. Cupcakes from Sweet Maria’s will also be available for purchase at the festival. You can join in on the conversation leading up to the festival on the Connecticut Student Film Festival’s official Facebook page and Twitter, or visit the festival’s website for more information and to view videos from last year’s festival winners. This is sure to be a great event, so get a group of family or friends from Cheshire and make the short trip to Waterbury.
Education Connection’s Center for 21st Century Skills along with Connecticut Career Choices have collaborated to host this festival to showcase the work of the talented students in these programs. This will be a great opportunity to support local budding film producers around Cheshire and see the result of their hard work. So, sit back, enjoy the films and indulge in a cupcake for a cheap and sweet night out.
