Community Updates: In and Around Cheshire
This summer has been eventful for both Cheshire and the entire country! With the Olympics going on many of us are glued to our TVs to see who will get the gold. From environmental updates to what’s happening in the 2012 Olympics, your Cheshire real estate agent is here to keep you informed.
Recycling: Here in Cheshire we want to do everything we can to keep the environment in good shape – and this fall, we will start with recycling. Cheshire’s town manager hopes to implement automated single-stream recycling in Cheshire. The change is expected to take place by early to Mid-November where 96-gallon containers will replace eighteen-gallon recycling containers. This will increase the volume of recycling we can pick up, and will hopefully encourage all Cheshire residents to recycle more. Our current, smaller containers fill up fast and after that we have a tendency to stop recycling. With the implementation of the larger containers, we can continue to recycle longer. The switch will also save the Cheshire a substantial amount of money, which is always a good thing.
Olympics: Have you been keeping up with the Olympics? If not, you will be proud to know that rowing has been representing Connecticut well! The Olympics is something Americans look forward to for four years, and to have someone from your home take home a medal is truly amazing. Congratulations to Guilford’s Sarah Trowbridge who placed THIRD in the women’s double scull races. She has had a long history of rowing (12 years) and has been on five senior national teams. Way to go!
